#mp3s_AfterMidnight Help Text
This help text has been written to help you the new Mp3 person.
Copy and Paste
One of the first things that you'll need to know in order to get mp3 files is how to copy and paste in your Mirc. It is a little bit different than copy and paste in windows. The following steps should help. If you already know how to copy and paste within your Mirc feel free to skip this part.
1. Place your cursor at the beginning of the text you wish to copy.
2. Press your left mouse button and hold down.
3. Drag your cursor (while holding the left mouse button down) across the text you wish to copy.
4. When you have reached the end of the text you wish to copy release the left mouse.
5. Now place your cursor on the area you wish to paste the copied text to.
6. Press your right mouse button ( a drop down menu will appear). Select "paste" from that drop down menu.
You have just completed a copy and paste within your Mirc client.
Finding your Mp3's
There is a search command you can use to find a particular Artist or song. That command is @locator or @find. @Locator is the most frequently used. You use the command as follows:
Example
@locator artist name
or
@locator few words from the song title
Also adding * between words will narrow your search. This command should be used in the channel and not in other windows or messages.
Grabbing (Leeching) Mp3 Files
The first and probably most important thing in leeching mp3's is reading ads (advertisements). Each mp3 is offered through ads. The ads are colored and run continually in the channel. Most ads will have a line that can be copied and pasted to the channel. As well as having a line to copy and paste, most ads will have a line that can be used to receive an individual's list. This line can also be copied and pasted to the channel. It is important to remember when requesting a Mp3 that you make your request in the channel, and not in private messages.
Triggers
Whether your requesting Mp3's or lists, the trigger is the key element that sets off the download. There are many different scripts out there serving Mp3's. The most common triggers used are the ! and the @. To leech a Mp3, most scripts require a ! be placed at the beginning of the request line.
Example
!Person's Nick Artist-Any Song.mp3
This will get you a person's list of Mp3 with most scripts. This line can be typed or copy and paste. Once you have received a person's list, you will be able to copy and paste from the list to the channel.
Example
@Anyone's Nick (Spelled exactly how it shows on the channel list)
Once again, reading the ad for the Mp3 will tell you what trigger to use.
The Download
Once you have typed or pasted the appropriate line for the Mp3 and pressed enter the down load will begin. This happens in two ways. First, the file may come to you immediately. When it does you will have a little window pop up on your screen. At this point you can choose to accept the download or reject it. If you are sure this is the file you requested (it will say in that little window) just click accept. The download will begin, giving you various information about the down load. Such as, Files size, Cps (Download speed), Approximate length of time for the down load, ect.
The second way the download may come to you is what's know as a "Que". You will be notified in the channel if you are qued for a file. All this means is that the person you are trying to download from is presently sending out a maximum amount of files that his/her connection will allow. After a file has finished, you will move up in the que. When your turn in que has been reached the download will proceed as stated above in the first paragraph.
General Rules of Thumb
1. Never accept a file that you have NOT requested. Sadly enough there are people sending viruses ever day on Mirc.
2. When downloading your first few files, make sure to watch where that file is going. This will save you time searching later for your Mp3.
If you download scripts from the internet, ALWAYS scan them for viruses before you open anything.
